Assistant Professor Atar Herziger joined the faculty in 2021. She received her Ph.D. in Social and Economic Psychology at University of Cologne in Germany in 2018 (Summa Cum Laude). From 2018 to 2021, Atar held a post-doctoral research position at the Sustainability Institute at The Ohio State University.

Atar’s research focuses on pro-environmental and pro-social behavior. She examines the psycho-social and contextual factors that motivate, hinder, and bias consumers’ judgements and behaviors as they relate to sustainability. Her work examines a variety of behaviors, ranging from energy conservation, through waste discarding and minimalism, to smart city transportation services. Her projects often employ an experimental or quasi-experimental approach and are conducted in both lab and field settings.
