Eyal began his military career in the Naval Officers Course and, throughout the years, held several command positions in the Israeli Navy. In 2015, he was appointed Head of the Planning Department within the Planning Directorate of the General Staff, where he was responsible for designing and executing the IDF’s multi-year plan, “Gideon”. Upon completing this role, he returned to Naval Headquarters as Head of the Naval Intelligence Division, where he led transformations and advanced processes to foster synergy between the division, the Military Intelligence Directorate, and the Operations Division. He subsequently served as Head of the Naval Operations Division. In 2021, he was appointed Head of the Planning Division within the General Staff’s Planning Directorate, focusing on the planning and implementation of the “Tnufa” (Momentum) multi-year plan.
In August 2023, following his promotion to Major General, he assumed the position of Head of the Planning and Force Build-up Directorate. During his tenure, the IDF chief decided to dismantle the Strategy Directorate and merge its components into the Force Build-up Design and Planning Directorate; Eyal was tasked with leading this merger and the transfer of authorities.
In November 2024, he graduated with honors from the Technion’s MBA program, specializing in Big Data and Business Intelligence.
In April 2026, he was appointed Commander of the Israeli Navy.
